  1. Rooms Hotel Kazbegi

Kazbegi’s most famous hotel, Rooms Hotel Kazbegi, offers modern design, an infinity pool, and spectacular views of Mount Kazbek. Even if you don’t stay overnight, it’s worth stopping by for lunch on the terrace to soak in the views, which is exactly what we did!

MUST-VISIT STOPS ON THE GEORGIAN MILITARY HIGHWAY

The route to Kazbegi is iconic; carved through the Caucasus Mountains, the Georgian Military Highway connects Georgia to Russia and offers some of Georgia’s most breathtaking views, with winding roads, snow-capped peaks, and ancient landmarks at every turn.

Two stops on this route you absolutely should not miss:

  • Georgia-Russia Friendship Monument, located at the top of a mountain pass. This colorful, mosaic-covered structure is called the Arch of Friendship between Georgia and Russia and offers panoramic views of the mountains.

  • Ananuri Fortress, a stunning medieval complex perched on the edge of the Zhinvali reservoir. Turquoise waters, clouds and mountain peaks - I’ve never seen bluer waters than these!

Trust me, these stops along the Georgian Military Highway will be highlights of your journey!

Kazbegi is the perfect destination for anyone looking to experience the raw beauty of the Caucasus mountains. We did it as a day trip from Tbilisi, and with hindsight I wish we had stayed a couple of days - 1-2 nights would have been ideal!

Whether you’re hiking to breathtaking viewpoints, exploring ancient churches, or simply unwinding with a scenic backdrop, this mountain town has something for every traveler. With its unique mix of adventure, culture, and relaxation, Kazbegi is a must-visit on any Georgia itinerary.

If you’re planning a trip to Georgia, make sure to add Kazbegi to your list and experience its magic for yourself!
